Jeremy Lefroy MP has welcomed the resumption of flights to Tunisia after almost three years of no flights departing there from the UK.
Thomas Cook is resuming flights to Tunisia for the first time since 2015 after the Foreign Office relaxed its travel advice. Last week three planes carried passengers to Enfidha. Tunisia is a popular tourist destination, with 440,000 UK visitors in 2014.
Tunisia is an affordable holiday destination and three flights will be departing a week from UK airports in Birmingham, Manchester and Gatwick. The company plans to have six flights running a week by May, including flights from Stansted, Glasgow and Newcastle.
Another operator TUI plans to resume flights to Tunisia in May.
Commenting Jeremy said:
“I welcome the resumption of flights to Tunisia by Thomas Cook. Our tourism and trade links with Tunisia are important and beneficial for both countries. This service resuming demonstrates the positive signs and stability that Tunisia has shown in the last few months.”
